Gillingham FC Statement
The employment tribunal decision regarding former player Mark McCammon’s claims for compensation from the football club has come to a conclusion that he should be awarded just over £60,000.
The player had initially claimed almost £250,000, but the tribunal rejected the majority of his claim and was instead awarded the wages he would have earned from the point he was dismissed until the end of his contract, plus £10,000 for loss of feelings.
When you consider he was offered £45,000 before Christmas he hasn’t achieved much for his efforts and it is probable he will have to pay his own costs.
In any event, further to a meeting with the Chairman and lawyers yesterday, and having considered the judgement of the case for discrimination, it is likely a formal appeal will be lodged over the next week or so.
