Team News –
Experienced centre-half Jonathan Woodgate is the main injury doubt for the Boro, he missed Saturday’s home win over Crystal Palace with a slight groin injury. Last season’s leading scorer Marvin Emnes is also a doubt with rumours linking him with a move to Swansea City.
Colours -
The Gills will be wearing their red shirts with blue sleeves, white shorts and blue socks while Middlesbrough are expected to wear their away kit of sky blue shirts with navy trim, navy shorts and sky blue socks.
So Far This Season…
Boro’ began the new campaign with a Capital One Cup victory at League One Bury on August 11 where Marvin Emnes and Emmanuel Ledesma were on target in a 2-1 victory at Gigg Lane. Middlesbrough, who had narrowly missed out on a play-off place last season - finishing seventh, started their Championship fixtures with a 1-0 defeat against Barnsley at Oakwell.
That was followed when they recorded their first win beating Burnley 3-2 in a see-saw battle at the Riverside Stadium thanks to three tremendous strikes by Nicky Bailey, Adam Reach and Luke Williams.
On Saturday they played Crystal Palace at home and made it back to back triumphs with a 2-1 win, Seb Hines and Merouane Zemmama securing the points with goals either side of half-time.
