Successful spells followed at both Fulham and his home-town club both under Micky Adams but numerous hernia problems eventually forced him to quit professional football and moves to Margate and Worthing followed.
Two months later he made his debut as a substitute in the home game against Walsall when replacing Gareth Knott. However his Priestfield career was disrupted by injury and in all he made 14 appearances, eight of which were as a sub.
The Brighton born winger had played for a number of non-league clubs, mostly in Sussex, before joining the Gills in January 1995.

The forward joined the Gills from Chelsea in June 1921 and made his debut at Southampton on the opening day of the following season.
