Gillingham FC have released company accounts for the year ending May 2012
In a season which was as eventful off the field as indeed it was on field, the Club narrowly missed out on a play-off place for the second consecutive season, resulting in an internal restructuring of our football management team.Andy Hessenthaler, who had worked exceptionally hard in attempting to bring footballing success to the Club, decided it was time to look at an alternative management structure, resulting in him joining the Board as Director of Football and, after an extensive management search, the appointments of Martin Allen as football manager and John Schofield as his assistant were made in July 2012.
Off the field, the year also concluded an internal financial restructuring that had been on-going for almost five years, resulting in the ownership of Priestfield Stadium returning to Gillingham Football Club and all liabilities to the Club’s bankers being satisfied in full, leaving the Club with a far healthier financial platform on which to build.
With the current season already underway, early signs are encouraging and we will continue to work hard in ensuring the business remains stable in a difficult financial climate, and that we further our aims of footballing success on the field.
I would like to thank all our staff for their hard work and perseverance throughout the year and our supporters and sponsors for their much valued support.
Paul D. P. Scally
Chairman
