BIRTHS...

1921 - Mike Skivington

The Glaswegian centre-half had played for Bury, Rochdale, Dundalk and Leyton Orient before coming to Priestfield in the summer of 1950.

He made his debut at Bristol City early in the season, the clubs first back in the Football League, and went on to make a dozen appearances.

In September 1951 he moved to Brentford

DEATHS...

1975 - Len Ramsell

The local lad joined the Gills from Chatham Town in May 1924 and made his debut early the following season at Bournemouth.

He scored two in 11 appearances for the club before returning to Chatham the following summer.

Len died in Sunninghill on this day in 1975.
