Gills keeper Paulo Gazzaniga joins Premiership new boys

Talented goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga today joined Premier League newcomers Southampton for an undisclosed fee, putting pen to paper on a four year contract

The Argentine drew top scouts to Priestfield with a number of outstanding performances, playing just 22 times for the Gills after replacing Ross Flitney between the sticks.

Paulo rounded off an excellent first season at the club by being named Gillingham's Young Player of the Year for 2011/12.

The 20-year-old, who made his debut in the home Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie with Barnet in October, was signed by Andy Hessenthaler last summer following his release from Spanish giants Valencia.

He has already joined his new team-mates at their training camp in Evian-les-Bains, France.

As part of the deal Saints keeper Tommy Forecast will be joining the Gills on a season-long loan.
