BIRTHS...

1914 - George Tadman

The Rainham born outside-right, joined the Gills from Bristol Rovers in June 1935 and made his debut at Northampton Town on the opening day of the 1935-36 campaign.

After scoring 19 goals in 44 games in his one season, he moved to Charlton Athletic the following summer before having spells at Cheltenham Town and French club FC Sete before becoming player-manager at Somerset side Street FC.


1973 - Grant Watts

The forward came through the ranks at Crystal Palace and came to Gillingham from Selhurst Park in September 1994, making his debut at Exeter City.

He made just four appearances while here at Priestfield before becoming a non-league journeyman around the south-east.

DEATHS...

1958 - Albert Fairclough

Albert, previously with Manchester City, Southend United and Bristol City, joined the Gills from Derby County in February 1927 and made his debut in the home game with Luton Town soon afterwards.

 The centre-forward went on to score three goals in 11 appearances.

Albert died in Stockport on November 5 1958.


1976 - Roy Bethell

The former St Albans City and Charlton Athletic forward signed for the Gills in May 1929 and made his debut on the opening day of the following season.

His first goal came in a 5-0 home win against Newport County in April 1930 and went on to score 34 goals in 173 appearances.

Roy died in Watford on November 5 1976.
