CANTERBURY ROAD ON THE RIGHT PATH

Canterbury Road triumph in our latest half time shoot out competition

At the halfway stage of Gillingham’s victory over Burton Albion last Saturday, Canterbury Road Primary School took on Tunstall Primary school in the Half Time Shoot-out.

In the lead up to the interval, both teams kitted up whilst they were briefed on the rules. The players would have seven seconds from the edge of the D to either dribble and shoot at goal, or take a first time shot.

The two keepers were tasked with trying to save as many of the shots as possible and could move from their line as soon as the whistle sounded.

Before the shoot-out began, both teams had the opportunity for a short warm up and were joined by a few members of the Gills Youth Team.

This clearly helped them to relax, as from the ten shots, eight were scored, leaving the scores level at four a piece.

This being the case, both Goalkeepers had to change their roles momentarily and take a shot each to try and send their teams into the next round.  The Canterbury Road Keeper remained calm to put the ball in the net and take the victory this time around.

As usual we would like to thank both schools for taking part in the competition and good luck to Canterbury Road School for the next round.

Next up will be Lansdowne Primary School and Lenham Primary School who will take part in the Half Time Shoot Out in the match between Gillingham and Morecambe on Saturday 17th November 2012.
