BIRTHS...
1891 - Albert Fairclough
The centre-forward, previously with Manchester City, Southend United and Bristol City, joined the Gills from Derby County in February 1927 and made his debut in the home game with Luton Town soon afterwards.
Albert went on to score three goals in 11 appearances.
1937 - John Evans
The Welshman was signed from Lovell's Athletic by Gills boss Archie Clark, initially as an amateur in 1955 making a handful of appearances.
He turned professional in April 1956 and went on to make his debut at Port Vale in September 1957. Unfortunately after seven successive games he sustained a badly broken leg in a home game against Swindon Town. He didn’t reach full fitness for several months and was eventually released in the summer of 1959
