The result of Saturday’s Half-time shoot out…..
St Stephens Junior School and Twydall Primary School battled in the first round of this year’s Half-time Shoot-out during last weekend’s game against Rochdale FC.
The players had seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and could chose to dribble and shoot or simply fire one at goal. The keepers were allowed to move off their line as soon as the whistle sounded and put the striker under pressure meaning that they both had to think and act fast.
It was obvious that before this Shoot-out that both sides were nervous with Twydall trying to overcome their first round knock-out in last year’s competition, to finalists; Ospringe Primary School. While St Stephens were having their first experience of our Half Time Shoot Out.
After being briefed on rules and the order of penalty takers the laces on their boots were tied, gloves were strapped and their hearts began to thud with the excitement of showing their all in front on the Rainham End.
Both Goalkeepers used the same tactics of rushing off the line on the whistle to shut down the penalty taker quicker, with some success, but some powerful shots, fancy footwork and the accuracy of an Archer gave Twydall the win with their Goalkeeper being showered in glory for his bravery.
February 2013.ndAs usual we would like to thank both schools for taking part in the competition and good luck to Twydall for the next round which will take place when Gills face Wycombe Wanderers FC on 2
