CRAWLEY 2-3 GILLINGHAM

Darren Hare reports on win for Academy side...

It was nice to get back to winning ways for the players but for me the performance overall was more important and I have to say I was delighted.

First half we dominated our opponents in terms of goalmouth opportunities with Ashley Miller, Aaron Millbank and Kane Haysman all having chances to score, Aaron being the one to convert the opening goal.

We conceded a soft equalizer through an individual error but responded immediately with young U16 schoolboy Danny leonard firing us ahead .

Crawley had a good spell as always happens in games and we had to dogged in our defending, and we was, but it was a bullet header from Ollie Lee that gave us a  two goal advantage early in the second half and this seemed to settle us and we went on to see the game through - although we had a nervous last five minutes when they scored another.

Credit to Crawley who worked really hard and played some nice football at times, but I was pleased with how we managed the game situation today.

Team: O'Neill, Blanchard, Beale, Freiter, Lee, Leonard  (Staunton 75), Coates, Haysman, Millbank, Miller, Webster (Sellens 75).
