DAVID WRIGHT PROFILE

Read up on the Gills new loan signing..

Gillingham have today signed Crystal Palace defensive midfielder David Wright on a one-month loan deal.

The 32-year-old, who has made three appearances for the Eagles this season, joins a Gills side who are unbeaten in the league after five games and are top of the npower League Two table.

Manager Martin Allen said in his post-match press conference on Saturday that he was looking to add to his squad with another experienced outfield player, and Wright certainly fits that bill having played in over 400 league games in his 15-year spell as a professional.

He began his career at Crewe Alexandra, spending seven years at the club before joining Wigan Athletic in 2004 for a fee of £500,000. A short loan spell at Norwich was followed up by a permanent move to Ipswich Town in 2007 – after three years at Portman Road he signed for Palace on a free transfer in the summer of 2010 and has featured 57 times for the South London outfit.

David is available for selection for the game against Bristol Rovers at MEMS Priestfield on Saturday.
