Gillingham were soundly beaten by a vastly experienced Town side with more than 100 international caps between them. The Ipswich scorers were Nathan Ellington (3), Ronan Murray (2), Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Colin Healy and Caolan Lavery which came after Stefan Payne had put the Gills ahead.

BIRTHS...
1893 - Thomas JD Robinson
The Liverpudlian joined the Gills from Everton in August 1920 and made the first, of just three appearances, against Plymouth Argyle at Home Park the following month. He scored one goal which came in his next game, at Portsmouth in November.
1937 - Cliff Hazell
Cliff made just two appearances for the Gills after moving from Hastings United in July 1955 although National Service delayed his debut until a visit to Bournemouth in March 1958. Four months later he was on the move again when he left for Millwall.
1967 - Mick Bodley
The experienced centre-half came to Priestfield in November 1994 on loan from Southend United. He made his debut at Lincoln City and went on to make a further six appearances.
1958 - Paul Clark
Paul was signed by Damien Richardson from Southend United in the summer of 1991, where he had been apprentice, player, assistant boss, caretaker manager and player manager at different times.
The versatile performer made his debut against Scunthorpe United on the opening day and was ever-present that season which saw him win the supporters Player-of-the-Year.
He remained at the club for three seasons making 113 appearances before being released in May 1994.
Clark has been a frequent visitor to Gills games, especially against Southend, on matchdays either as a statistician for the Press Association or summarising for BBC Essex and he is due here AT pRIESTFIELD AGAIN ON tUESDAY.
1968 - Ivan Haines
Ivan joined the Gills South East Counties League team in September 1986 and signed professional terms in the summer of 1987.
He made his first-team debut as a substitute at Northampton Town in November 1987, in his four seasons at Priestfield the defender made a total of 68 appearances.
After leaving Gillingham he played for Sittingbourne and Margate.
