BIRTHS...

1952 - Terry Nicholl
The midfielder played for Crewe Alexandra, Sheffield United and Southend United before joining the Gills in a £6,000 deal in October 1976, making his debut at Wrexham shortly afterwards.

After scoring a dozen goals in 204 appearances for the club, Terry took the opportunity to move to the U.S.A signing for the Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League.

He eventually moved into coaching Stateside with Memphis Storm and has since held roles at Wichita Wings, Dayton Dynamo and Cincinnati Excite and is currently involved with one of the boy’s teams at Super Y League outfit Cincinnati United Premier.

1972 - Paul Hague
The muscular central defender came South to join the Gills as a trainee in October 1989 and signed pro terms in May 1991 by which time he'd already made his first-team debut at Carlisle.

Paul made a total of 14 appearances and had loan spells at Cork City, where he played European Cup football, and Sittingbourne before Leyton Orient paid £30,000 for him in September 1994.

He later returned to his native North-East and played for Gateshead and Tow Law Town, playing at Wembley with the latter in the 1998 FA Vase Final.

1983 - Matt Bodkin
Despite being born in Chatham, Matt  came to Priestfield in August 2004 from Nottingham Forest but had to wait five months until the FA Cup 3rd Round tie at Portsmouth for his debut.

He made just three appearances for the Gills before being released and the winger played for Welling United, Grays Athletic, Thurrock, Dartford, Eastleigh and Dover and is currently plying his trade with Margate who he’d joined in July 2010.
