BIRTHS...

1890 - Bert Goodman 

The half-back arrived from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 1925 and made his debut in the opening day fixture of 1925-26 against QPR

He spent nine months at the club, making just half-a-dozen appearances before moving to Clapton Orient

1953 - Ian Thorpe

The former Charlton Athletic amateur initially came to Priestfield on a non-contract basis in March 1972.

The goalkeeper signed pro terms in September 1973 and made his debut in a 5-1 home win against Doncaster Rovers later that month.

Ian made five appearances in total that season as understudy to Mike Gibson as the Gills were promoted.

He was released at the end of that campaign and later played for both Folkestone and Margate. 

1979 - Andy Frampton 

Andy celebrates his 33rd birthday today.

The defender, previously with Crystal Palace, Brentford, Leyton Orient (loan) and Swindon Town (loan), arrived at MEMS Priestfield Stadium in the summer following his release by Millwall.

Before Saturday’s game with Chesterfield Andy had made 33 appearances for the Gills.
