Martin encourages supporters to join us at training this Thursday and Friday
Good MorningI’m on my way up to London to watch our reserve team play in a one o’clock kick-off. Our team will have several youth players and several young lads hoping now to get on the bench or even play before the end of the season.
All of our young players involved today have trained extremely hard and with a lot of senior players leaving it has given these young players opportunities to get experience playing men’s football and hopefully challenge for the first team.
All the first team squad are off this week on Tuesday and Wednesday and all the squad will be training on Thursday and Friday this week, starting at 10.30am. Everybody is welcome and, being School holidays, it should be fun.
Yesterday was for me a very special day, of course, I respect mathematically our first goal has not yet been achieved but I have waited and worked for 17 years to achieve one promotion. I do try and keep my head down on the walk from the corner flag to the half way line as I must concentrate on the job and keep my emotions intact, whether it be good or bad. But somehow, yesterday, it felt right to walk to the middle, as a stand of togetherness and a united front in a game that was always going to be physical, tense and very important.
The atmosphere, or noise, from the singing and the support for our players was of course very special. The players love it, they respond to it and they thrive on it.
By the way I am on hands free in my car!
Well, we are on the verge of history and we will all continue to work on and off the field, as hard as we can, and I can’t wait to hear the fat lady singing. Thank you again for all the help and support you have given the players.
