BIRTHS...
1946 - Phil Burrows
The experienced left-back had played for Bury, as an amateue, Manchester City, Plymouth Argyle and Hereford United before arriving at Priestfield Stadium on loan in the twilight of his career.
He made his debut against Carlisle United in October 1977 and went on to make five appearances.
After finally leaving Hereford in 1980 he played for Witton Albion and Mossley.

DEATHS...
1976 - John Beby
The Gillingham born goalkeeper joined the Gills from the Grenadier Guards in August 1929 but had to wait until the Boxing Day trip to Bournemouth before making his debut.
After appearing in 20 consecutive games he moved to Leicester City just before the season ended.
He later returned to Kent and managed Erith & Belvedere.
John died in Rochester on this day in 1976.
