GILLS TOP ATTRACTION AT MEDWAY MILE

Community Trust attend Medway Mile

The Gills were very proud to support the Medway Mile after securing a stall at the action packed event last week in Rochester.

With a broad spectrum of stalls promoting healthy living and active lifestyles it was great to see the community all pulling together to promote a worthy cause and getting involved in a variety of challenges and activities.

The Gillingham FC community trust held a football circuit time challenge involving dribbling through an obstacle ridden course and finishing with a shot at goal, with the top four time places receiving a family match package so there was, understandably, plenty of interest.

The League Two Championship trophy was present and received an overwhelming amount of attention from admiring fans.

With plenty of photo opportunities available it was excellent to see how much the prized silverware meant to everyone in the community.

The GFC Gems also got involved with a great opening performance and were brilliant in organising a large group of youngsters to join in a flash dance to `Gangnam Style.`

In addition Tommy T was out and about mingling amongst young fans and members of the public, before taking part in the Medway Mile’s Mascot Race.

Tommy put in a valiant effort but unfortunately finishes second to last after being outgunned in the final 10 metres.

All in all it was a great day with plenty of family entertainment to keep everyone occupied for hours on end.

Gillingham Football Club would like to congratulate all members of the public who participated in the Medway Mile `Run and Walk` and are very grateful to Medway Council for allowing us to take part in such an exceptional event.
