He said: “They got in the play-offs last year so it’s another tough test with a different Manager. It’s how we play and what we do and if we can play the way we play we are a match for anyone on our day.

“I don’t read the newspapers, watch it on TV and nothing will change for me personally. I just get on with my job and focus on what I’ve got and not what everyone else is talking about.

“Saturday was full on from the first minute, there was a terrific spirit and we thoroughly deserved to win that game.

“It was good to get that first goal, and what a goal it was. A great cross field pass, good header from Danny and Bayo finished it off beautifully. We had several other opportunities but the players are doing well.”

Martin was asked whether Cody McDonald and Bayo Akinfenwa will have the chance to play together in the near future having done so before in their first spells at the club.

He replied: “I didn’t know they played together. What happened three years ago isn’t my business, I have to deal with the players I have now. Will they play together at some point? Yes. But we also have the German and he’s been fantastic in training.

“Danny Kedwell is in fine form. He also helps when defending corners and heads it out more than any other player and not many people realise that.

“Everyone will get the chance to play.”
