CANTERBURY ROAD MAKE IT THREE

The result of Saturday’s half-time shoot out…

Canterbury Road Primary School and Lansdowne Primary School fought it out in the third quarter-final of this year’s Half-time Shoot-out during last our game against Dagenham and Redbridge.

The players had seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and could chose to dribble and shoot or simply fire one at goal. The keepers were allowed to move off their line as soon as the whistle sounded and put the striker under pressure meaning that they both had to think and act fast.

This shoot-out meant more than just progression to the semi-finals; this shoot-out was a local derby with the two schools a stone’s throw from each other in Sittingbourne.

As both teams warmed up no one knew this shootout would go down to Goalkeepers, who throughout the match up dominated with some great saves, cat like agility and diving bravely at the striker's feet.

In the end though it finished 3-2 to Canterbury Road, with their Goalkeeper scoring their final goal and making the all-important final save from Lansdowne.

As usual we would like to thank both schools for taking part in the competition and good luck to Canterbury Road for the semi-final which will take place when Gills face Accrington.

Next up will be Sherwin Knight Junior School and St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School when Gills take on Plymouth FC.
