BIRTHS...
1931 - Roger Darvell
The centre-half joined Charlton Athletic in December 1953 but failed to break into the first-team at the Valley before arriving at Priestfield in the summer of 1957.
He made his league bow when making his Gills debut against Brighton & HA at home on the opening day of the 1957-58 season.
However after making just three appearances he lost his place and moved to Southport in July 1958 where he played more than 250 times.
After retiring from playing he was assistant-manager at Banbury United.
