Births...
1904 - Harold Sly
The forward came to Gillingham from Tamworth Castle FC in August 1927 and made his debut at Plymouth the following month.
In two seasons with the Gills he made 16 appearances scoring once, that came in a 7-4 defeat at Walsall.
In the summer of 1929 he joined Brighton & HA and later played for French side FC Sete.
1927 - Tony Blake
Having played as a centre-forward in his younger days prior to joining Birmingham City as an amateur in October 1948, Blake was turned into a full-back with the Blues.
He turned professional at St Andrews three months later, despite being a regular in the reserves he only made a couple of first-team appearances for City.
In July 1952 he was signed by Gills boss Archie Clark and because of injuries he made his debut up front against Crystal Palace in early September and Blake scored the only goal of the game.
After returning to his regular position at right-back he played another nine times before suffering a serious knee injury in October.
After unsuccessful surgery he was forced to retire from the game.
1954 - Ken Price
Formerly with Highgate United, Club Lafette, Whitmore Old Boys and Dudley Town, Ken joined the Gills in a £2,000 deal from Southend United in December 1976.
The raw centre-forward, who had just one football league game behind him, made his debut when Rotherham United visited Priestfield.
He went on to become a firm crowd favourite here forging a terrific frontline alongside Damien Richardson and Danny Westwood.
In his seven seasons with the club, which saw him become the top scorer four times, he scored 89 goals in 294 appearances and that tally leaves him sixth in the clubs all-time league goalscoring list.
In January 1983 a £15,000 fee took him to Reading but a knee injury eventually forced him to give up the game.
1965 - Adrian Owers
The midfielder arrived at Gillingham on loan from Brighton & HA in March 1991 and made his debut as a substitute against Lincoln City.
He made 10 appearances before returning to the Seagulls.
Adrian, who now works as a personal trainer, went on to play for a number of non-league sides mostly in the Essex region and he still turns out for Great Wakering Veterans.
He has also been in the England squad for the Seniors World Cup.

Deaths...
1987 - Bobby Harrison
The former Medway Boys and Kent Under-18 forward signed for the Gills as an amateur in June 1963 and made his one and only senior appearance against Reading at Priestfield in April 1967.
He was however a regular in the reserves during his time with the club which ended in April 1969 when he left for Margate.
After spells with Brett Sports and Sheppey United he returned to the Medway Towns in 1971 and joined Chatham Town where he remained for 15 years before coaching at Sittingbourne.
Bobby died in Gillingham on this day in 1987.
His son Stuart later played for the Gills Youth team and a number of local non-league sides.
