Gillingham have today confirmed that striker Cody McDonald has re-joined the club on loan from League One Coventry City until the end of the season.

He will wear the number 29 shirt and is likely to be involved in tomorrow's squad for the game against York City here at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

The 26-year-old has found his opportunities limited at the Ricoh Arena following the arrival of the Sky Blues new manager Mark Robins.

He became a firm favourite here at Priestfield in 2010-11 when he scored 25 goals in 43 appearances when on loan from Norwich City and went on to pick up five of the six trophies in the end of season awards evening.

Cody’s debut came in a 1-1 draw at Morecambe in August 210 and he opened his goal account in a 1-0 home win against Burton Albion. His tally included a hat-trick in a 5-1 victory at Stockport County.

Then in August 2011 he moved to Coventry for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £450,000, and he has gone on to net seven goals in 39 games for them.

McDonald started his career with hometown club Witham Town aged 16 and went on to play for Maldon Town and Dartford before earning a move to Carrow Road.
