Martin's message on the signing of Huddersfield midfielder Anton Robinson
Good AfternoonToday we have signed Anton Robinson on loan from Huddersfield Town til the end of this current season. I have watched Anton for a long time through non-league football and seen him develop into a strong, athletic central midfield player.
I drove up to meet him yesterday, leaving my house in Gillingham at 3.00pm to meet him and his wife and they are both very happy and excited to be joining our club. He will be training with us over the weekend and goes into our squad for Monday night.
Over the past few days the Chairman has made offers for a couple of other players. I thought they were good offers but of course good players are expensive.
The deals have now been withdrawn and I think it is important now to concentrate and focus on the squad of players that we have in our pursuit of as many points as possible.
Ben Strevens has been a top professional, a good player and is a really good person around our club, however with the arrival of Cody McDonald and the option of playing Myles Weston up front the opportunities to actually start games have been limited.
I'm sure he will do very well for Dagenham and we wish him the very best of luck in the future.
Lastly, an hour ago, I texted the Chairman in Dubai, four hours ahead and informed him that a Premier League club have made an offer for one of our players and was he free to take a call?
Mr Scally called my mobile 1.7 seconds later asking who it was and which club it was? I let him know it was from Lewes. The phone line went dead and I must say I laughed and laughed and laughed...
