BIRTHS...
1914 - Jim Watson
The forward, who had played for Tunbridge Wells Rangers earlier in his career, joined the Gills from Northampton Town in August 1935 and ironically made his debut against the Cobblers shortly afterwards.
He scored his first goal in a 2-1 win at Bournemouth early in October and went on to score 45 goals, which included five hat-tricks, in 120 games for the club.
In July 1938 he moved to Notts County and was later with both Bristol Rovers and Brighton & HA.
1976 - Jon Bass
The right-back came to Priestfield in March 2000 on loan from Birmingham City, who he'd joined as a schoolboy.
He made his debut away at Colchester United, the first of seven appearances.
Jon later played for Hartlepool United, Pahang FA (Malaysia), Bristol Rovers and Salisbury City.
