BIRTHS...

1899 - Charles Orford

Charles made just one appearance for the Gills, at home to QPR in March 1925.


1906 - Thomas Millington

The outside-right came to Gillingham from Everton in March 1928 and made his debut at Brighton & HA.

After scoring twice in 40 games he joined Oswestry Towm in the summer of 1929.


1920- Bill Hales

The local lad played for Breach Rovers, Sittingbourne and Gillingham as an amateur, playing twice in the Southern League Cup.

He joined the Gills on a permanent basis in August 1949 and was a regular scorer for the Reserves before finally getting his first Football League chance.

That came in the away game at Port Vale in March 1951 where, in a memorable debut, Bill registered a hat-trick in a 4-3 defeat.

Following a spell at Snowdown Colliery Welfare he returned to Medway in 1954 when signing for Chatham Town.


1924- John 'Jackie' Carr

The Scottish born forward had played for Clyde and Alloa Athletic amongst others before coming to Gillingham in June 1948.

He made his debut at Dartford in the Southern League in September 1948.

After scoring 30 goals in 80 appearances, including 4 in 14 Football League games, he joined Chelmsford in August 1951.


1951- Micky Kent

Basil Hayward brought the Wolves midfielder to Priestfield on loan in March 1971 and he made his debut at Brighton & HA.

He made a further ten appearances before returning to Molineux and later played at Sheffield Wednesday.
