BIRTHS...
1947- Micky Darrell
The midfielder was signed on loan by boss Basil Hayward from Birmingham City in December 1970 and went on to score once in 22 appearances in his four months with the Gills.
He later played for Peterborough United, home-town club Bilston and Darlaston.
1976- Guy Ipoua
The Cameroonian had been with a number of top European sides including AS Nancy, Torino, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla before signing for Bristol Rovers in the summer of 1998.
Following an enjoyable spell with Scunthorpe United a £25,000 fee brought him to Gillingham under manager Andy Hessenthaler.
After making his debut as a substitute at Barnsley he went on to score 16 goals in 94 games for the Gills.
He continued playing in England with a mixture of league and non-league sides before returning to his homeland with Oryx Douala in 2007 and he is still listed in their squad for 2012-13
