BIRTHS...
1906 - John Loftus
The forward came to Gillingham from Brighton & HA in August 1935 and made his debut the following month against Notts County at home the following month.
He made just one further appearance before joining Barrow the following summer.
1961 - Tarki Micallef
The Welsh schoolboy, youth and under-21 international had played for Cardiff City and Newport County before coming to Gillingham on trial in August 1984.
The winger made his debut at Wigan Athletic the following month but after keeping his place for the following game, at Hull City, was released by boss Keith Peacock.
A return to Ninian Park followed and he took his league appearance mark past the 120-mark for the Bluebirds before later playing at both Bristol Rovers and Barry Town.
At the age of 45, back in 2006, he returned to playing with Creigiau Veterans.
