BIRTHS...

1923 - Frank McKee

The Scot had played for Hull City, Lochgelly Albert, Dundee United and Birmingham City before coming to Gillingham in July 1952.

He made the first of his 57 appearances for the club at Swindon Town in the September.

In August 1956 he joined Gloucester City and a year later moved on to Kidderminster Harriers.

1944 - Mike Bickle

The experienced centre-forward cost £7,000 when he signed for Basil Hayward's side in November 1971.

He made his debut at home to Stockport but it was against the same opponents eight games into the following season that he sustained a neck injury.

Then in November 1972 he suffered a shoulder injury on his return and in January 1973 he was forced to retire on medical grounds having scored seven goals in 38 appearances.

1969 - Paul Ritchie

The former Brechin City forward twice came to Priestfield on loan from Dundee, first under Glenn Roeder in February 1993 then Mike Flanagan in September 1994.

After scoring on his debut at Northampton Town he went on to total four goals in 12 games in both spells.

He next had spells in Hong Kong and Northern Ireland before returning to Scotland for an impressive term with Hamilton Academicals, helping the Accies win promotion.

Paul has since played for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Brechin (again), Partick Thistle and East Fife and is currently manager at Scottish Junior side Lochee United.

1975 - Duncan Jupp

The defender had made more than 100 appearances for both Fulham and Southend United, as well as playing for Wimbledon, Notts County and Luton Town before joining the Gills in May 2006.

He made his debut on the opening day of the season against Huddersfield Town on the opening day of the following campaign.

Duncan had made 34 appearances before leaving the club by mutual consent shortly after Mark Stimson's arrival as manager, signing for Bognor Regis Town.

He has worked as a football coach at Dorset House School in Pulborough.

After making 81 appearances in two seasons at the club he moved to Millwall in May 1929.

Sid died in Walsall on this day in 1971
