Read up on the Gills first summer signing
Martin Allen has made public his first signing of the summer with midfielder Amine Linganzi joining the Gills from League Two side Accrington Stanley.
The 23-year-old Frenchman played 13 games for Accrington during the back end of last season, one of which against the Gills in March when Matt Fish’s wonder strike was enough to
seal a 1-0 victory at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
On that day he produced a solid performance in the centre of midfield, and Martin has moved quickly to secure his services on a two year contract. He is 6’2 inches tall and so provides a physical presence in the middle of the park.
Amine was born in Algeria but emigrated with his family to Aix-en-Provence in the South of France in his early years, and after playing for several youth sides he joined St. Etienne where he began his professional career.
He spent the 2007/08 season in the club’s reserve side, but after a string of fine displays he found himself in the first team setup a year later and played three times for the senior squad across a three year spell.
After failing to hold down a regular place in the first team match squad he signed a three and a half year deal with Blackburn Rovers in January 2010 and played twice.
His debut coming in the final game of the 09-10 season against Aston Villa where he played 45 minutes before being replaced by Morten Gamst Pedersen.
In January 2011 he signed on loan for Preston until the end of the season, but an injury in his first appearance ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.
The midfielder stayed at Deepdale but didn’t feature under Phil Brown again before mutually agreeing with Blackburn to terminate his contract.
He kick started his career earlier this year when he went on trial with Accrington, and after agreeing a short-term deal he made his debut two days later in a 2-2 draw with Cheltenham Town.
Linganzi has international experience to his name aswell having appeared for Congo’s national side on just the one occasion in 2012.
