Jack Payne joins League One Peterborough United for undisclosed fee
Jack Payne has joined fellow League One side Peterborough United on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old midfielder spent five months on loan at London Road after being made available for transfer by Martin Allen, but he was unable to stop the club from being relegated after a final day defeat at the hands of Premiership new boys Crystal Palace.
Payne came through the club’s youth system and made his debut under Mark Stimson at the age of 16 against Chester in October 2008 as an 89th minute substitute for Nicky Southall at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
He went on to make a total of 113 appearances over a four and a half year period, in that time scoring six goals – two of those coming last season in visits to Barnet and Northampton Town.
He re-joins the Posh, under the management of Darren Ferguson, having already played 14 times for the club, and he will return to Priestfield on December 14 when Peterborough take on the Gills for the first of their two league meetings.
Everyone at the club would like to thank Jack for his services and we wish him the best of luck during his time at Peterborough.
