BIRTHS...
1942 - Derek Woodley
The former West Ham United, Charlton Athletic and Southend United (twice) right winger moved to Gillingham from Roots Hall in January 1968 in an exchange deal that saw Howard Moore going in the opposite direction.
He made his debut at Scunthorpe United and went on to make 114 appearances in which he scored nine times.
On departing Priestfield Derek joined Folkestone in the summer of 1971.
1962 - Nigel Donn
Having played for both Maidstone Schoolboys and Kent Schools, Nigel joined Gillingham as an apprentice in July 1978.
In February 1980 he signed professional terms at Priestfield Stadium but it was another six months before he made his first-team debut at Exeter City.
Having made just five appearances and having a loan spell at Kettering Town he was released in the summer of 1982.
After spells in Finland (at Karpalo) and Leyton Orient he returned to Kent and both played and held managerial roles for a number of clubs.
He now resides in Bearsted.
