The npower League Two trophy tours Medway
Local schools have had a chance to taste the club’s promotion success for themselves this week as the npower League Two trophy made its way around Medway.
The Gills clinched the league title against Wimbledon a few weeks ago, and following the final game against Burton, a programme of school visits was put in place to ensure youngsters had the opportunity to feel involved with the achievements of the team in its centenary season.
Head of Football in the Community Adam Lawrence said: “The club has achieved something amazing in it’s 100th year winning the trophy, and I am delighted that we are able to take it around to the schools that we work with and share the experience with so many people in our community.
“The club has had success on and off the pitch this year, and it is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate with the children of Medway and the next generation of Gillingham fans.”
The visits will continue in to next week with the following schools being the lucky ones who will get to see the championship trophy up close:
St Benedicts School
Parkwood Junior School
Hempstead Juniors
St William of Perth School
Skinner Street School
Barnsole Primary School
English Martyrs School
Dane Court School
All Faiths School
Brompton Westbrook School
