We look back at some of our greatest games against Saturday's opponents
Over the years the Gills have enjoyed some great matches against Carlisle, and we've taken a trip down memory lane to recall some of our most memorable games against the Cumbrians.Saturday October 28 2006 - Our last recorded victory against Saturday's opponents came over seven years ago when goals from Mark Bentley and Gary Mulligan earned all three points at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
Ronnie Jepson's side had stormed out of the blocks and took the lead after eight minutes when Bentley converted from around 18 yards with Matt Jarvis supplying the pass.
Mulligan netted the decisive second goal just minutes before the end to ensure the win. You can watch highlights of that game on gfcofficial.
Result: Gills 2-0 Carlisle
Saturday March 26 1994 - Another 2-0 win at Priestfield, this time under the Management of Mike Flanagan, was achieved with Richard Carpenter and Nicky Forster grabbing the goals.
Earlier in the season the striker had scored twice in a 2-1 triumph at Brunton Park, and was on hand again to seal a league double.
The team went on to finish 16th in the old Third Division.
Result: Gills 2-0 Carlisle
Tuesday March 12 1991 - This was our record victory against Carlisle with Damien Richardson's team scoring for fun in front of a 2,633 strong crowd.
Peter Beadle bagged a brace on the day with Steve Lovell and David Crown completing a fantastic evening as the club headed back home with three well deserved points.
Result: Carlisle 0-4 Gills
Saturday March 14 1987 - Gills scored four goals yet again away from home, but Carlisle ensured a clean sheet wasn't achieved after netting twice themselves.
It was Dave Shearer this time around who scored a brace with Tony Cascarino and Howard Pritchard getting on the score sheet too.
Keith Peacock's team went on to finish in fifth place in the third tier.
Result: Carlisle 2-4 Gills
