GILLS SIGN PRESTON MIDFIELDER

Peter Taylor has bolstered his midfield options with the capture of a new loan signing

Gillingham have increased their midfield ranks this morning with the loan capture of John Mousinho from League One rivals Preston North End.

The 27 year-old had been Lilywhites skipper under former manager Graham Westley and is well known to Peter Taylor, having played under the Gills interim manager during his time in charge at Wycombe Wanderers.

The Londoner began his professional career with Brentford and once played 75 minutes in goal for the Bees against Gillingham in a 2-2 draw at Griffin Park, after keeper Clark Masters had been sent off in the 23rd minute of our clash in October 2006.

Two years later he moved to Adams Park, helping the Chairboys clinch promotion to League One in his first season at the club and scored three goals in 79 appearances ahead of a move to Stevenage in 2010.

John was Boro’s top scorer in his first campaign, netting eight times in 44 appearances at the heart of midfield and followed Stevenage boss Graham Westley to Deepdale in May 2012, where he was named club captain for the 2012/13 campaign.

Mousinho joins the Gills on a two month loan deal and is eligible to play for the club in Saturday’s FA Cup with Budweiser First Round match against Brackley Town. Click the box below to buy your tickets now.
