SHANNON'S WEEKEND BETS

We continue our GFC Gems betting previews as Shannon steps up to the challenge

This afternoon we welcome Carlisle to MEMS Priestfield Stadium in our Sky Bet League One fixture, and I'm the next GFC Gem to offer our, now weekly, betting preview.

After coming so close to gaining a point from Port Vale last weekend we go in to this game knowing that three points will take us above our opponents, and hopefully a few other teams too.

In our `Gems League` Katie Franklin leads the way with four out of six correct predictions within her accumulator, with Karis recording two from five and Tequilla one from six.

Infact if you had agreed with Katie that Danny Kedwell would score first against Port Vale, then £10 would have won you £90!

Let's hope my guesses this week can be just as profitable - open your account with Sky Bet right now and have a flutter on a variety of markets.

I'm going to start my selections this week by suggesting that Danny will again score the first goal of the game, and you can get odds of 9/2 for him to do just that.

If you're looking for a long shot then why not plump for the Gills to equal our best ever result against the Cumbrians at home?

A score line of 4-1 will return odds of 40/1!

Shannon Special:

I heard Myles Weston say a little while ago that he is eager to claim his first goal of the season, and with him looking increasingly threatening on the wing I feel he may have a part to play this afternoon.

Myles Weston to score first and the Gills to win 3-0 - 100/1!

Accumulator:

A couple of the girls have chosen to focus on the Champions League or the Premiership, but I'm bringing it back to League One today and hopefully it will prove enough to jump above Katie in our private league table.

Bristol City v Oldham

Sean O'Driscoll's side finally won their first game of the season last week against today's opponents Carlisle, and as is the case sometimes with Football, a win can do an awful lot for confidence.

Considering the players they have and the support they will undoubtedly receive today on the back of three points, I'll say City will record back to back victories.

BRISTOL CITY WIN - 21/20

Crewe v Bradford

The home side lost 3-1 at Sheffield United last weekend and now find themselves back in the bottom four, just three points above Bristol City who occupy bottom spot.

In their last home match they suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Stevenage, and I think Bradford will further upset the home faithful as they look to stay with the early front runners.

I'm going for an away victory, although I do think it will be a close affair.

BRADFORD WIN - 6/5

MK Dons v Walsall

Before researching their recent form I was almost certainly going for a home win, but Walsall have won four games on the road so far this season and have been a surprise force so far in the division.

The hosts will want three points to try and bring them closer to the play-off zone, however my gut instinct tells me the points might be shared today.

DRAW - 12/5

Preston v Tranmere

Last weekend Preston took all three points from Notts County after a 1-0 away victory, and Simon Grayson is definitely, so far at least, fulfilling the pre-season expectation of a promotion challenge.

Although they did slip up against Crewe a couple of weeks ago at Deepdale, I don't see that happening again today and am confident a home win will be the end result.

PRESTON WIN - 8/13

Swindon v Port Vale

Sky Bet are not hiding the fact they expect Swindon to win at home today, although considering their home form that isn't really surprising.

Having said that Vale are strong on the road and, as we found last week, once they get going they are very difficult to stop and with the likes of Tom Pope around they will always possess a goal scoring threat.

I sense another draw on the cards...the odds are going up!

DRAW - 5/2.

Wolves v Stevenage

Kenny Jackett's side are second in the table going in to today's game, but with Leyton Orient away at Peterborough they could find themselves top of the league if results go their way.

Considering the atmosphere and momentum on their side, I just think Wolves will have too much for Stevenage to handle.

WOLVES WIN - 2/5
