GFC Call on local schools to sign up for the Football League Girls and Kids Cups
Following the outstanding success of our Community Cup campaigns last season, Gillingham FC are looking for Schools to help us try and bring the prestigious Football League Girls Cup and Kids Cup trophies back to Priestfield.Last year over 2,000 schools entered the two competitions, with the finalists getting the chance to play at Wembley Stadium. This seasons Road to Wembley starts now with the local stage of the competitions and it’s open to all local schools who wish to take part.
The Girls Cup is for Under-13 girls and the Kids Cup is for Under-11 children. The winning schools will win the right to represent Gillingham FC in the national stages of the tournament and could progress all the way to the final for the prize of a lifetime – playing football at Wembley stadium.
Last season our Girls Cup winners, Rainham School for Girls and our Kids Cup winners, Minterne Community Junior School made it all the way to the National Final at Wembley beating the likes of Charlton, Ipswich and Bristol Rovers en route.
Along the way they also had the opportunity to meet and take part in training sessions run by England International Steph Houghton and England Legend Gareth Southgate, respectively, and both schools will be looking to retain their crown this season.
