Both sides finished the game with ten men with Lee Miller seeing red for a stamp on Adam Barrett, before Leon Legge was sent off for a second bookable offence eight minutes from time.

Speaking to the press after the game Peter said: “I thought our first half performance was very, very poor and the booing that we got at half time I said to the players if I had been in that crowd and paying money to watch you I would have been booing the loudest.

“It was something that, to me, isn’t acceptable for the position that we are in.

“In the second half I thought we grafted away – it wasn’t a good performance but we kept going, thankfully we got the penalty and I thought the players then dug in and worked extremely hard to get the result.”

Peter made two changes at the break with Steven Gregory and Cody McDonald replacing Charlie Lee and Myles Weston, and the Manager explained his thinking behind those decisions.

“Bradley Dack [who came on in the first half for Amine Linganzi] has looked very good in games I have seen in the U21 friendlies, and I think Steven Gregory is better than what he is showing people at the minute, but I thought we needed him to settle our team down to have a bit more balance.”

Kedwell scored his eighth of the season from the spot, and Taylor praised the striker for his efforts.

“We need that; we are in a relegation scrap let’s be honest about it and we need fighting performances like we did in the second half.

“That’s what we’ve got to do and I think that’s what the crowd appreciates. I’m sure they appreciated the second half and I’m sure they were bored stiff in the first.

“The division is very tough and we are going to have matches like this probably until the end of the season, that’s how it is.

“League One is a very good division with some outstanding teams and you need to fight hard and nick results.”
