One of Keith Peacock's first signings, in January 1982, Tony joined the Gills as a 19 year-old from local non-league side Crockenhill, in exchange for a set of tracksuits!
He proved to be one of the best buys in the history of the club, scoring 110 goals in 269 league appearances and was named Gills' Player of the Year in 1986/87, before moving to Millwall for £225,000.
Tony went on to play in the top flight with Aston Villa and Chelsea, enjoyed prolific success in France with spells at Marseille and Nancy, and represented the Republic of Ireland in the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, winning 88 international caps.
