Gills Interim Manager Peter Taylor and goal scorer Danny Kedwell were delighted to seal all three points following the 2-1 win over Notts County at MEMS Priestfield on Tuesday night.

Taylor said afterwards: “We got two very well taken goals, maybe bad defending from Notts County, but when you go in at half time 2-0 up it’s still a dangerous score and we are then desperate for that third goal.

“I felt that’s the time we did deserve to score, just after half time, we didn’t get it and then, to me, Notts County played some terrific football and were very hard to get the ball off.

“They were getting chances, they scored a goal and then it was a nervous last ten minutes. Fair play to the players, they worked extremely hard – we can defend a bit better than that to not give other teams too many chances.

“We needed three points, because there has been a change around the place the boys needed lifting at times and they are very pleased with themselves now.

“We know it could be a little bit easier but Notts County are very attacking and at times they had more bodies than us in certain areas.”

Keds, who has been voted `Man of the Match` in two successive games, was equally pleased to walk off with maximum points and said the players were in good spirits afterwards.

He said: “To be fair I think they were the best team we have played at home this year, they were very good but they just didn’t have an end product.

“We managed to stick in there, keep our shape and we took our goals well.

“We needed the win; it was a big game for us because they would have taken over us if they would have won so it’s one happy camp at the minute.”
