Signed on a free transfer from Grimsby Town in 1997 as the Gills built a team to challenge for promotion to the Championship, Nicky went on to clock up a staggering 379 appearances in four spells for the club and played a crucial role in the most successful era the Gills have ever enjoyed.
Arguably, his best season for the club came in 1999/2000 under the guidance of Peter Taylor, with the fans favourite scoring 13 times in 59 league and cup outings.
Without doubt the pick of the bunch being a stunning rocket past Pavel Srnicek from just inside the Medway Stand touchline to complete a 3-1 giant-killing of Sheffield Wednesday at Priestfield
