Brompton Westbrook Primary School take the honours in Tuesday’s shoot-out
The Gills scored their first win under Interim Manager Peter Taylor on Tuesday with a 2-1 triumph over Notts County at MEMS Priestfield Stadium. The fixture also saw last year’s shoot-out finalists Brompton Westbrook Primary School take on All Faiths’ Children’s Community School in the fourth game of our halt time tournament.
Each player has seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and can choose to dribble and shoot or simply fire straight at goal. The keepers are allowed to move off their line, as soon as the whistle sounds, and put the striker under pressure, meaning that both players have to think and act fast.
Both team were nervous as they warmed-up and both schools missed their opening penalty but Brompton took an early lead with their second. After a fine performance from their keeper Brompton came out on top to secure the victory.
Congratulations to Brompton Westbrook who are through to the second of our Quarter-Finals where they will play Minterne Community Junior School. The shoot-out will place when the Gills face Sheffield United in the New Year.
Our next first round tie will see Barnsole Primary School take on Wouldham CE Primary School when Gills face Carlisle United on 2 November.
