KENT F.A U18'S 2-2 GILLS YOUTH

Gills youngsters play out competitive draw at Corinthians

Gills Academy Manager Darren Hare watched a number of his U16 players achieve a positive 2-2 draw against the Kent F.A U18 side in a friendly match at Corinthians on Sunday.

Speaking after the game he told the club website:

“I watched them play and they were brilliant, we only have nine at the moment so a couple of under 15’s played. They did very well and going forward they are a massive threat and we have already offered scholarships to the two forwards, Harry Stannard and Ryan Crandley.

“Ryan has frightening pace and Harry has frightening ability so between them they are a lethal combination and they do play like a pair of centre forwards who have played together all their life and it’s uncanny.

"They have a great understanding with reverse passes, they know what each other is capable of and we are excited about those two next season.

“There are eight places available and there are nine under 16’s players so the gauntlet has been thrown down – go for it, the chance is there.

“They caused havoc and they were a complete cut above and I was extremely pleased with them so it won’t surprise me or anybody here to see those two involved with me on more occasions in the next few months.

“They are all decent and they all have potential.”
