Peter Taylor provides an update regarding the injuries sustained to Stuart Nelson and Cody McDonald

Gills 4-2 defeat to MK Dons on Saturday.Peter Taylor has delivered an update regarding the injuries sustained to Stuart Nelson and Cody McDonald during the

Nelson was substituted at half time due to a suspected broken thumb, while McDonald was stretchered off on 53 minutes with strapping on his left leg.

Speaking to the club website on Monday afternoon Peter said: “Stuart definitely hasn’t got a broken thumb but he’s got some ligament damage we think, and as we speak, he’s at the hospital having it checked out and I’m sure we’ll find out by tomorrow morning , if not late tonight, the extent of the damage.”

Peter was asked if ligament damage, as opposed to a normal break, would keep Stuart out for longer.

He said: “Could be yes. For where it is that could be a three month job – could be. We’ll just have to see how serious it is.”

As a result Peter could dip into the loan market for a goalkeeper to provide cover as he explained:

’m just waiting to find out the length and if I find out he’s out for long I can go to the other club and say can we have a loan for that time."I“Yes I think so, we’ll have to do that and I’ve got my eye on one or two at the minute,” he said.

“Hopefully it’s a very short period, but if it’s longer we need to cover it.

“Glenn will play tomorrow with Tom Hadler on the bench.”

As for McDonald Peter added: “He’s still got a swollen knee and a swollen ankle, we can’t do much with the ankle at the minute.

“It’s not looking great but probably not as serious as we thought on Saturday after the game – I can still see him being out for a little while.”
