TAYLOR DECIDES AGAINST BORROWDALE CONTRACT

Peter Taylor has decided to release Gary Borrowdale following a pre-season trial

Peter Taylor has revealed that he has released defender Gary Borrowdale having been with the club for a month during pre-season.

Borrowdale, 29, initially joined the Gills in January until the end of the 2013-14 season from non-league Margate but failed to make a first team appearance.

He returned to Priestfield at the start of July and has featured in a number of matches, but after close assessment and much deliberation, the Manager has decided to explore other options.

Speaking today he said: "He's done very well, lost weight every week and looked fitter every week.

"I just don't think he's ready for League One Football, especially considering if we have to play Saturday and Tuesday - as a result I have decided to let him go."

The Manager went on to reveal he is looking at adding to his full back options, with Matt Fish not expected to start at stadium:mk due to a knee injury.

Amine Linganzi (hamstring) has trained after sitting out the game at Ebbsfleet, John Egan has also been involved following illness.

Josh Pritchard is slowly regaining full fitness and could travel to Milton Keynes for the club's opening league fixture.
