Peter Taylor delivers his verdict following the 4-1 defeat to Barnsley at Oakwell
Gills boss Peter Taylor said his players needed to produce a better end product following the 4-1 defeat to Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday.
Conor Hourihane, Sam Winnall, Devante Cole and Dale Jennings were on target for the hosts with Danny Kedwell scoring what proved to be a consolation.
Speaking after the game Peter said: “There were some bits in the first half where we were decent – we got our wide players in, maybe we could have done with a better end product.
“But some of the Football in the first half was OK – their first goal was a great strike but the way he got there with too much space it’s disappointing on our side, and the second one was a cross.
“It sets you back and I think it was an even game and then you come in 2-0 down. Then you’ve got to get a goal, they got the third and I think that’s game, set and match.
“We go and get a goal back but it wasn’t enough.
“For us today there was no end product and unfortunately for us it’s another day when we haven’t done enough to be good defensively.
“We had a good enough team that started the match and Barnsley were better than us.”
