TAYLOR HAPPY AFTER FIRST ROUND CUP WIN

Peter Taylor speaks to the media following victory over Yeovil in the first round of the Capital One Cup at Huish Park

Peter Taylor was happy with the way his players acquitted themselves following the 2-1 win over Yeovil in the first round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday evening.

Goals from Brennan Dickenson and Aaron Morris helped to clinch victory at Huish Park, but Peter said there are still things to work on.

Speaking after the game he said: “Again there were positives, there was some good Football played at times when the players were calm enough to play it.

“We got a fortunate goal because of a mistake by Yeovil but I thought we played some decent Football. Both teams got beat on Saturday and they were desperate to get something tonight but I don’t concentrate too much on the opposition, I concentrate on us.

“I thought our shape was decent and when we played it simple we did it well but, like Saturday, there were good stages and bad stages.”

Peter discussed both goals, the first of which coming as a result of a defensive mix up which Dickenson pounced on. The second was a fabulous strike from Aaron Morris from the edge of the box.

He added: “Brennan is very quick and we didn’t see how quick he is tonight but he does get a goal. It was a lucky one but you have to be there to take it.

“It was a great strike [from Aaron] and their goalkeeper didn’t have a chance, that’s not why he came to the club. He’s come here as a holding midfielder who stops things so it was a nice surprise!”
