TAYLOR: WE PLAYED SOME GOOD FOOTBALL

Gillingham Manager Peter Taylor delivers his post match press conference following the 2-0 win over Crewe

Peter Taylor revealed how pleased he was with his team’s overall performance following the 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

First half goals from Bradley Dack and Cody McDonald sealed Gills second league win of the new season, and Taylor was happy with the professionalism his players showed.

Speaking to the press after the final whistle he said: “I was very, very pleased with the first half and I thought we played some good Football, we created some decent chances.

“In the second half we had to be professional because we knew Crewe would come out and do a bit better.

“I was pleased with the majority of the decisions the boys made, if anything we needed the third goal because that does relax you a bit.

“We didn’t want to go blazing forward because you didn’t want to let Crewe back in and then it’s a different game.

“Overall I still think we had more chances in the second half.”

Peter praised Jermaine McGlashan for the impact he had on the game – the winger earning the `Man of the Match` award following a fantastic display.

He added: “You’ve seen the way that he plays and that’s where we have had to be careful with his hamstrings because he puts in so much effort.

“He’s a great lad and I’m really pleased that we’ve signed him because he wants to keep improving, he works very hard for the team and all he’s got to do is maybe start making a few goals now aswell.

“If we can get a bit more end product on his final touch that would be good.”
