Max Ehmer delivers his first interview for Gillingham FC since signing on loan from Queens Park Rangers
Max Ehmer says he is looking forward to taking on Leyton Orient in the JPT on Saturday with a trip to Wembley potentially up for grabs. The 22-year-old centre back joined the club last Thursday and made his debut in the 2-2 draw against Port Vale at Priestfield two days later.
Ehmer says it has been helpful having the likes of Michael Doughty around the club who is also on loan from Queens Park Rangers.
Max told the official website: “He [Michael] actually called me last Tuesday, I know Antonio German from the QPR days too so that’s helpful. All the boys here are good to be fair.
“I’m here to better myself and the team and hopefully get some points.
“I heard that Gillingham were interested on the Tuesday, I got the call from the gaffer and just said yes pretty much.”
Max conceded it was disappointing not to clinch all three points last Saturday but says focus has now turned to obtaining a place in the Area Finals of the JPT.
He added: “I enjoyed the game on Saturday – it was annoying not to get the win but those things happen in Football and I’m now looking forward to the match against Leyton Orient.
“I was happy with my own performance, I always think I can do better and we’ll be looking to keep a clean sheet Saturday first and foremost.
“We are in the semi-final and if we can get through to that we’ll be in the Area Final which would be good.”
