We bring you a round-up on how some of our players are doing while on loan at other clubs
A number of Gillingham players are currently on loan at various clubs in the English leagues, and after following their progress closely we can now give you a comprehensive round-up as to how they are getting on.Firstly Adam Barrett, the Club's Captain for the 2012-13 and 13-14 seasons, joined AFC Wimbledon on loan in August, initially for a month, before extending the deal until January 4.
The centre-back has so far made 29 appearances for the Dons and scored twice, one of which a fantastic strike against Southend in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in early September.
His other goal came on October 4 in a 1-1 draw against Cheltenham at the Abbey Business Stadium. The 35-year-old’s deal is due to run out on Sunday January 4, however it is possible this could be extended further.
Matt Fishjoined League Two Portsmouth on November 21 on a short term basis but his first team opportunities have been limited with the right back only playing three matches to date.
His loan deal runs out next week and it remains to be seen if his deal will be renewed at Fratton Park after an impressive start to his time in Hampshire.
Pompey defeated Morecambe 3-0 on November 22 with Fish playing a full 90 minutes, a feat he repeated a week later at Prenton Park where Portsmouth suffered a 3-1 defeat at Tranmere.
His other appearance came in a 3-2 home loss against Accrington Stanley where he played throughout.
Devante McKainre-joined Maidenhead on a three month loan deal in mid-October having made his one and only appearance for Gills this season during the 1-0 win over Stevenage in the JPT at the Lamex Stadium.
The centre-back, who can also operate in defensive midfield as he did in pre-season against Ebbsfleet, has so far played ten times for the Magpies without scoring.
His latest appearance was on Sunday in a 2-2 draw away at Eastbourne Borough where former Gills striker Jacob Erskine bagged a goal to help guide Maidenhead to a hard earned point.
Jack Sellens, another young striker to come through the Gills youth programme, joined Hythe Town on a one month youth loan just before Christmas and scored on his debut against Worthing in a 1-1 draw.
He started his second successive game against Folkestone on Boxing Day, but Neil Cugley’s side took the points with a 1-0 win courtesy of a second half strike from Richard Atkin.
Sellens is likely to play a part in the club’s New Year’s Day game against Hastings United at Reachfields Stadium.
Tom Hadlersigned for Tonbridge in late October on an initial one month loan to cover for injured goalkeeper Kyle Merson.
The former England schoolboys keeper kept a clean sheet on his debut with Tonbridge beating VCD Athletic 2-0 in a cup game, he went on to play a number of matches and remains at Longmead Stadium. However Gills are able to call Tom back at any stage.
Finally Josh Haresigned for Eastbourne Borough on an initial one month loan deal on November 19.
The right-back made his first team debut for Gillingham against Yeovil in the first round of the Capital One Cup in August but agreed to join the Conference South club in search of regular games.
To date he has played nine times, most recently in the 2-2 draw with Maidenhead on Sunday.
